What is the role of a Special Needs Assistant in the Irish education sector?

Definition according to the Special Education Support Service:

In general terms, the SNA acts in a care and support role that is non-teaching in nature and works under the guidance and supervision of the Principal and/or class teacher. The role and duties of the SNA are more clearly defined in Department of Education and Skills DES Circular 0030/2014.

The programmes are being offered nationwide and are made up of two components Special Needs Assisting 5N1786 and Special Needs Assisting 6N1957. From here you can grow and develop your career into a wide range of areas in the childcare or healthcare sectors and seek employment as a special needs assistant.
